Principal, interest, and total amount
Understand what the principal, estimated interest, and total amount mean in a result.
Principal is the original amount borrowed or invested. Interest is the estimated cost of borrowing or earnings on that principal. In a simple-interest calculation, the principal stays the same throughout the selected duration.
The calculator's total is principal plus estimated interest. For example, if the principal is ₹50,000 and the estimated interest is ₹3,000, the total is ₹53,000 before any fees or repayments.
A real loan balance may change when payments are made, interest is compounded, or fees are added. This simple-interest estimate does not model those changes, so use the lender's repayment schedule and agreement for the final payable amount.
This guide explains a general estimate. A lender’s contract and repayment schedule determine the actual amount due.
